Causes of Acne, Treatment Options, and Myths

Acne is a very determined condition that can be both irritating and exasperating. It isn’t hard to find products that proclaim they can take care of your acne; however, most of these treatments only help you temporarily. Acne may not be painful, or a major health problem, but it’s still not a condition you can get rid of quickly. A doctor or dermatologist should treat acute cases of acne; however, less severe acne outbreaks will usually clear up by themselves. The healing process can be hastened with certain procedures; we’ll give you some of these tips in this article.

Going to a salon regularly for facial treatments may be helpful for keeping your acne under control. A trained esthetician can give you a more customized treatment than you’d get by just buying a product at the pharmacy. Steaming and other treatments will open your pores and can prevent future outbreaks of pimples. If, however, your acne is severe you should see a dermatologist, as you’ll need medication to reduce any inflammations. If you’re already taking any medication for acne and go to a salon, make sure you read the labels and tell the esthetician what you’re taking to make sure she doesn’t give you anything that might not be compatible. Salon treatments are not a cure for acne, but they can keep your skin healthier and may speed up the healing of your pimples.

There are now devices you can buy that claim to be able to clear up acne. One of these is the Zeno Acne Clearing Device, which works by applying heat to your pimples through a metal pad. Each treatment only lasts a few minutes, and it’s recommended that you do several treatments per day. This and similar devices are sold online, and you can read customer reviews to see what other people’s experiences have been. Surprisingly, they are quite effective for many people. The heat is able to kill the bacteria that cause acne and the pimples then clear up quickly. Such devices, however, are not meant to treat severe acne, only mild to moderate cases. Although they are still not well known, they are a promising development in the search for acne solutions.

Green tea is now being recommended for almost every imaginable ailment, and this includes acne. You can gain the benefits of green tea in several ways, either by drinking it, taking it as a supplement, or by applying it directly to your face. Since green tea is healthy, and also an effective, but mild, stimulant, you may want to try drinking a few cups per day. Otherwise, you can find it in capsule form, which can be a way to get the recommended dosage in a concentrated form. Finally, you can apply green tea directly to the affected area of your skin. Using tea bags is the simplest way to do this. Wet the tea bags in warm water and then rub them gently over your face.

There may be more ways to treat acne than almost any other ailment. Some of the remedies you hear about, including the ones discussed above, may not work very well for you. Yet, if you try various approaches, it’s likely that your skin will respond well to at least one of them. Unless your acne is very widespread or inflamed – in which case you should see a doctor – you can find a way to control it.
